The Toronto Geological Discussion Group

The Toronto Geological Discussion Group (TGDG) is a local learned society for geoscience and mining professionals. Our mission is to provide ongoing and relevant education and networking opportunities to our members and the wider public, with emphasis on geology, new deposit models and the application of exploration techniques. We are funded through our members, and through company sponsors who share our passion for geology.

Our community consists of over 200 members belonging to the thriving mining community centered in Toronto of geologists, engineers, financiers, mining support services and students.

Our programme provides this community with bi-monthly late afternoon technical meetings, from September to May, and two half day symposiums annually. Attendance at TGDG events qualifies as part of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD), required to maintain professional status as a Geoscientist.

We support university students through subsidizing their membership fees and attendance at TGDG symposiums. We also provide funding to students for field trips and other organized educational events that support the aims of the TGDG.

The TGDG welcomes new members. Join here.

Did You Know?

Did you miss a TGDG event?

Members can access speaker presentations from missed TGDG events, including afternoon seminars and symposia. View selected speaker presentations here.

Did you know that attending TGDG meetings contributes to APGO Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits?

Each session attended is valued at one hour CPD! More than 10 CPD credits are available during every season, and we do provide certificates upon request.

We have created a TGDG LinkedIn group as a way for members to continue to collaborate and network outside of the meetings. We will use this site to post upcoming meeting announcements, related event postings, and discussion topics of interest. You are also welcome to submit your suggestions for speakers, upcoming event announcements, job postings, or let people know if you are looking for a job or connection in the industry. All postings will be reviewed to help vet any that aren’t pertinent to TGDG members. We encourage you to join this group to make the most of your network.
