Dr. Shawn Hood, CTO and Dr. Pejman Shamsipour, Director of Research Sciences - Goldspot Discoveries

Talk Abstract:

Shawn (Chief Technology Officer) and Pejman (Director of Research Sciences) work together at GoldSpot Discoveries, a technology company that creates and applies Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and expert geoscientific approaches toward the exploration and discovery of mineral deposits. Together they look for opportunities to develop innovative data applications to enhance mineral exploration.

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Pejman Shamsipour is a geophysicist and geostatistician with extensive experience in the oil and gas sector, academia, government research, and metals exploration. He has a strong interest in developing new 3D stochastic methods and algorithms for constrained inversion and joint inversions of geophysical data. Pejman holds M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Polytechnique de Montreal. He is an active member of the Canadian Exploration Geophysics Society (KEGS) and the recipient of several fellowships and awards for academic and research excellence.

Dr. Shawn Hood is a Professional Geologist with a background in metal exploration and mining. He has an interest in the complements between traditional geoscience approaches and novel application of data and technology. Shawn holds a B.Sc. (honours) from Carleton University, M.Sc. from the University of British Columbia (MDRU), and Ph.D. from the University of Tasmania (CODES).
