Richmont's Island Gold Mine: Exploration continues to rejuvenate the potential of the Goudreau-Lochalsh District of the Wawa Gold Camp

Doug MacMillan, Richmont Mines

Doug MacMillan is a senior exploration geologist with Richmont Mines at the Island Gold Mine and was a part of the exploration team that carried out the deep discovery campaign at the Island Deposit. He currently manages the exploration drilling program at the mine site and regionally across the Goudreau-Lochalsh area. He has been involved in gold, base metal and uranium exploration in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. In northern Manitoba his work in the Lynn Lake Greenstone lead to several VMS Zinc deposit discoveries and a new gold deposit along the Johnstone Shear structure later to become the Keystone project. Working in the Wawa area has been somewhat of a homecoming having previously done regional OGS mapping programs in McMurray, Chabanel and Last Heels townships as well as working along Wawa's historic Jubilee shear zone structure.
